LODI (CBS13) — Parents are wondering why nothing has been done to punish a teacher after they say a student caught him looking at lewd photos in front of students.

Brianna Ruonavarra is outraged after she says her 9-year-old son, Damian, caught his teacher looking at photos of naked women on a school-issued computer during class.

“He seen um, chest, a bare chest. Another one he seen a woman who didn’t have any undergarments on and was laying on her stomach, so he seen her bottom,” she said.

Ruonavarra says it happened a few weeks ago at Live Oak Elementary School. She says her son immediately went and told administrators what happened.

“We don’t know what his intentions are,” she said. “First of all he shouldn’t be seeing anything like that in school, second of all is he trying to lure students in? Or what’s he doing? It could be worse than just looking at pornographic pictures at school.”

The mother says she filed a report with the sheriff, and her husband contacted the district, who told them they would look into the matter. She says deputies told her the teacher admitted ot them he was looking at adult entertainment ads on Craigslist.

“Maybe because it wasn’t a pornographic site that he was on that they couldn’t really press any criminal charges against him, but they did say he was looking at adult entertainment stuff on Craigslist,” she said.

Ruonavarra says since they reported the incident, they haven’t been told anything more about any punishment the teacher may be facing. CBS13 reached out to the district and received no response.

She wants to make sure that it never happens here again.

“He resigned the same day that they spoke with him,” she said. “so I’m not sure whats going to happen to him. But I know that that’s not OK that he’s doing that, and who knows how many other students have seen something like that.”
