1 Teen Killed, 1 Injured In Modesto After Being Hit By Car

MODESTO (CBS13) - One teen is dead and another seriously injured on Tuesday after their bikes collided with a car in Modesto.

At around 8:45 p.m. Monday, the two 17-year-old boys were riding eastbound at Sylvan Avenue and Keller Street when they were hit by a Volkswagen Jetta, according to Officer Scott Nelson, a spokesman for the Modesto Police Department.

One of the teens was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other teen was also taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Police say there are signs the teens may have had been drinking alcohol. Neither teen was wearing a helmet.

The driver passed a field sobriety test.

Police have not determined the cause of the crash.
