5 NFL Quarterbacks That Need A Big 2014

By Jordan Tracy

NFL Training Camps are opening all over the nation this week and it's time to kick this season into gear. The quarterback position is one that's always highly covered in the training camp story lines whether it be about heated depth chart battles to guys looking to come back from injury. There are a good amount of teams this season that will be looking to their quarterbacks to bring everything together to be on the winning path. Here is my list of quarterbacks that need a big 2014 season.

5. Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins

The Redskins finished 3-13 last year and quickly need to regain the faith of the fans. Griffin needs to step up as a leader and with the addition of a new head coach in Jay Gruden and new offensive weapon in Desean Jackson, the Redskins have to turn this ship around and leave the Shanahan era behind them. Far behind.

4. Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles

The pressure is on for Foles who had a tremendous season in 2013. It's doubtful that he will repeat the numbers he had last season, (27 touchdowns to two interceptions), but he has to show a glimpse of that success to prove that he can be the Eagles' franchise quarterback. He'll be watched carefully and debated highly.

3. Jake Locker, Tennessee Titans

Jake Locker's young career has been plagued with injuries. The Titans will find out this year if Locker is their guy moving forward and it is up to him to prove himself. He has to find a way to stay healthy and take less hits so that he even has a chance.

2. Geno Smith, New York Jets

Geno Smith's pressure is growing. Not only does he have veteran quarterback Michael Vick behind him looking to take the starting spot, but he now has Rex Ryan's confident words to live up to. Ryan believes his team is a playoff contender and Smith will need to drastically improve if that's going to be true. If he doesn't, it might be Vick leading the Jets to the playoffs....or maybe just no playoffs...

1. Johnny Manziel/Brian Hoyer, Cleveland Browns

Well, as of now, we aren't sure who the Browns' starting quarterback is going to be. If it's Johnny Manziel, he's going to have to live up to the hype. He has to play well enough for people to ignore his off the field antics and prove that he is the star that everyone is building him up to be. If he's not, Cleveland can say that it's alright because they have LeBron.

If it's Brian Hoyer under center for the Browns, he's going to have to prove that he's the better option over Manziel. Remeber the Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow debacle in Denver? Expect the Manziel billboards to go up in Cleveland if Hoyer proves to be a bad idea.
