2 Injured After Car Slams Into South Sacramento Home

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Two people are in the hospital with minor injuries, after their car crashed into a house in South Sacramento.

Investigators say the car was going down Bridalsmith Drive when it traveled across the intersection, hit the house, and burst into flames. Flames then spread to the home.

Firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire. The family living at the home was out to dinner at the time.

Investigators say speed could have played a factor in the crash.

"I heard some wild estimates on speed…We haven't done any speed assessments or anything like that. We haven't even been able to get close to the car yet because it's still hot," said CHP Sgt. David Dowty.

Firefighters rescued two dogs from the fire. The homeowners say they're thankful their pets are safe.

Investigators say there may have been another car involved.
