2 Women, Child Dead Following Suspected DUI Crash In Turlock

TURLOCK (CBS13) – Police say that two people and a child are dead after a crash that looks to involve alcohol.

The incident happened at Boxwood Way and Rockwood Avenue around 7:45 p.m. Saturday, according to the Turlock Police Department. Police say that four people, said to be two women and two children, were walking in the area when a car apparently lost control and went up onto a sidewalk.

Police say three of the four – two women and a child – were hit by the car. The car then drove through a front yard, an electrical box and a stop sign before it ended up crashing into a house.

The two women, who are said to be 47 and 20 years old, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 4-year-old boy was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries. The second child, a 2-year-old girl, was uninjured in the incident.

Both of the boy and the girl are said to be children of the 20-year-old woman, police say.

Police are crediting citizens who were in the area with helping them detain one of the occupants of the suspect car. Another occupant had holed themselves up in a house along Linwood Avenue, forcing police to obtain a search warrant. Around 1:42 a.m., police say, officers took three people inside the home into custody, including the person believed to be the second occupant of the car.

Alcohol looks to have played a factor in the incident, police say.
