Three Reasons Why Roger Goodell Is Digging His Own Grave

By: Morgan Ragan

After getting ridiculed by the public for suspending running back Ray Rice for only two games after being arrested for fighting with his then fiancee Janay Palmer, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell tried patching things up with the media and the public by making a new domestic violence policy for his league: six game suspension for the first offense and a lifetime ban for the second.

On Sept. 8, TMZ Sports released the second video of Rice in the elevator punching Janay in the face. There was a obvious public outrage and instead of making things better, Goodell seemed to make things worse for the NFL and himself.

Here are three reasons why Goodell is digging his own grave:

1. Goodell's interview with Norah O'Donnell

O'Donnell of CBS did an interview with Goodell and talked to him about his knowledge of the video before making his decision on Rice's two-game suspension. Goodell said in the interview that he had not seen the video until TMZ released it.

This video released by TMZ was quite obtainable and if it's obtainable the NFL, a billon dollar company could easily obtain it.

2. Law enforcement says they sent a video to an NFL executive

On Wednesday a Law enforcement said he sent a video of Ray Rice punching Palmer to an NFL executive five months ago.

There is audio proof of the conversation that happened on April 9, 2014.

Why would this NFL executive not tell her boss, the commissioner about this video? Doesn't sound like Goodell could possibly be telling the truth.

3. Why did the NFL need a visual of Rice punching Palmer in the face to suspend him indefinitely?

The NFL had enough evidence and information in the first video released to know that Palmer did not punch herself in the face.

It's inhumane that even for a moment Goodell thought a two-game suspension was enough for Rice. Only a  monster would punch his fiancee in the face and drag her out. Rice showed no remorse and only a morally incompetent leader would botch this entire situation.
