Carmichael Dave: The Colts are D-U-M-B
Some thoughts from last night's Colts-Eagles game:
The Colts were stupid. Just flat out moronic. Rarely can you pin a loss solely on one thing, and there were certainly other mitigating factors, but the Colts choked away a win at home.
Come with me as we take a look at how Pep Hamilton and the rest of the Colts' play-calling staff totally handed the Eagles a win in the 4th quarter-
5:15: 3rd and 9. Colts sitting on a 39 yard field goal with some guy named Adam Vinatieri on the sideline (I think he's kicked a field goal or two before), all set to go up 10 and give the Eagles back the ball IN INDY. So what do they do? Throw the ball into coverage, get picked.
Ok.
Yes, the refs missed T.Y. Hilton getting held. But there was NO REASON EVER to pass the ball in that situation. None. Zero. Zip. Stupid.
Philly then scores, of course, and ties it up at 27.
So.
Colts get the ball back. Tied at 27. Monday Night Football.
Andrew Luck at the helm. QB of the future, coming into his own. The guy you let Peyton Manning go for. So what do you do?
3:25: Trent Richardson runs left.
2:49: Trent Richardson runs right.
2:12: NOW they let Luck pass the ball. Only thing is, the ENTIRE WORLD AND SOME OUTSIDE REALMS knew he would be passing the ball. Shockingly, it was incomplete. 4th down.
You know the rest. Eagles get the ball back, drive down the field, kick a field goal and win.
Colts fan will point to the missed T.Y. Hilton call, and also the asinine horse collar call that wasn't even close. Truth is, blame your coaches. Blame your play callers.
The Indianapolis Colts are 0-2, and they have no one to blame but themselves.
