Officials: Wildfire In Weed Destroyed About 110 Homes

WEED, Calif. (AP) - Officials now say a wildfire that ripped through a Northern California town destroyed about 110 homes and damaged another 90.

The revised totals for the town of Weed came Wednesday as state fire personnel conduct a house-to-house assessment.

Officials previously said the blaze damaged or destroyed more than 150 structures.

State fire Battalion Chief Scott McLean says four firefighters lost their homes due to the fire.

Two churches, a community center and a library also have been destroyed since the fire started on Monday.

Fire crews took advantage of calmer winds and firefighting aircraft Tuesday, gaining control in and around Weed.
