Police: Retired Lodi Firefighter Found Dead In Park Committed Suicide

LODI (CBS13) – Police investigators say that former Lodi firefighter Gary Duck died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Duck's body was found at Lodi's Roget Park on the morning of Sept. 6. Police say they classified his death as "suspicious" because the gun apparently used by Duck was not found at the scene.

The gun appears to have been taken from Duck after he shot himself, police say. It is unclear if the gun has been located.

Detectives made the determination that Duck shot himself through forensic evidence.

Duck, 70, was a retired firefighter who had also served as a battalion chief for the Lodi Fire Department.  His career spanned over 30 years.
