Surveillance Video Shows Mountain Lion Fleeing From Turlock Police

TURLOCK (CBS13) — A mountain lion was captured on surveillance wandering the streets of Turlock, prompting a search for the big cat.

It was seen near Berkley Road and California Avenue, which is where much of the day was spent searching for the mountain lion, and warning people to stay inside.

Ken Moore installed security cameras around his home in the hopes of one day catching a criminal lurking around his home, but instead it caught pictures of a mountain lion roaming his quiet neighborhood.

"It was the last thing I thought I was going to see when I went out in my front yard," he said.

It's not your average house cat jumping over a fence and narrowly avoiding police officers before taking off down the street.

"We heard the neighbor's dog across the street just barking up a storm like i've never heard it before, and then we turned and looked down the street and theres two cop cars down there going 'get out of the street!'" he said.

He was in the middle of some yard work at his home when he heard police telling everyone to get inside.

"We both looked over here and the mountain lion jumped right over the fence," he said.

If it's found, police hope to catch it and release it into the wild.
