Throne obtained a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from California State University, Chico and has taken higher level classes to continue learning and add to his knowledge. "I could not do my job without my understanding and education I received, specifically in physics. Even with sales, when I talk to customers, I must have a very high level of understanding of what they are doing." According to Throne, he needs to be able to comprehend the various types of applications and systems as the client is explaining it to him. "With the education and training I received, I am much more successful."

Throne has also been involved in the development of products and new directions for the company, and without his education and additional training, he could have cost the company money with no working product. Throne is proud to say he has been involved in the development of products that have been included in tens of thousands of systems worldwide.

Throne believes that those with a degree, especially in technology, are valuable to all companies. "Even in the lowest level, the more you understand, the more useful you are to the company. You have choices to move elsewhere as well as advance in the company into management and executive positions."

Throne explained, "In the field of technology, the most successful companies don't just have business people in management but also have someone who understands technology and where the market is going." He stated that in his experience, companies that have people who are educated in technology in management positions are more successful.
