Airports Will Start Screening For Possible Ebola Patients

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The U.S. government is now preparing to start taking temperatures of travelers from West Africa arriving at five major airports.

Airline passengers CBS13 spoke to at Sacramento International Airport say they don't see the latest screening as an inconvenience, but a necessity.

A federal official speaking on condition of anonymity says beginning on Saturday, New York's JFK, Newark, Dulles in Washington D.C., Chicago and Atlanta will be part of the screening process.

Screeners will reportedly look for symptoms of ebola, including fever, severe headache, muscle pain, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain and unexplained bleeding or bruising.

The screening was revealed on the day Thomas Eric Duncan, the first person in the U.S. diagnosed with ebola, died in Texas.

There are no confirmed future screenings at Sacramento's airport.
