Solano County Judge Admonished For Calling Litigants 'Rotten' And 'Total Human Disaster'

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (AP) - A California disciplinary panel has imposed a public admonishment on a Solano County Superior Court judge for making denigrating remarks to family law litigants.

The state Commission on Judicial Performance said Wednesday it determined Judge Daniel J. Healy demeaned litigants in several cases when he referred to them as "rotten," ''stupid and thuggish" and a "total human disaster."

It says Healy in one occasion told litigants their child "might as well start walking the streets as a hooker."

The judge argued that blunt language is sometimes necessary to compel litigants to realize the harm that they are causing their children.

But the commission disagreed, saying Healy failed to treat litigants in a respectful manner as required by the Code of Judicial Ethics."

Healy has been a judge in Solano County since 2011.
