Gunshots Lead Stockton Police To Fatally Wounded Driver

STOCKTON (CBS13) - Detectives in Stockton are investigating the shooting death of a man found injured inside a vehicle on Thursday night.

Patrol officers reported hearing gunshots in the area of Poplar and Madison streets at around 10 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found a vehicle crashed into a tree with an injured man sitting in the driver's seat, according to a statement from the Stockton Police Department.

The 39-year-old victim had suffered at least one a gunshot wound. Paramedics arrived and later pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Homicide investigators have not identified a suspect, nor have they made a statement on a motive for the shooting.
