Teen Who Threatened To Jump From Stockton Crane Comes Down Safely

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Work at a Stockton construction site ground to a halt Tuesday morning after a teen climbed up a construction crane and reportedly threatened to jump.

At around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, the 19-year-old allegedly hopped the fence at the site near Weber Avenue and El Dorado Street and began climbing the 300-plus-foot tower, according to construction worker. At that point, the foreman ordered workers to leave the site and police were contacted.

According to witnesses, the teen was upset about a fight he had with his girlfriend and threatened to end his life.

He communicated with police via a radio left on the crane by a worker, according to a Stockton Police Department spokesperson.

The teen's father, girlfriend and friend were brought to the scene to help police convince the teen to come down.
