0-16: A Look Back At A Winless Year For The Oakland Raiders Filled With Almosts And Blowouts

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — There have been two coaches, three starting quarterbacks and 88 players involved in the Oakland Raiders' current 16-game losing streak.

They have lost to 12 teams, played in eight stadiums and even went to a second country, losing a game in London this season.

Here's a look back at the 16 losses since Oakland beat Houston 28-23 on Nov. 17, 2013:

Nov. 24, 2013

Tennessee 23, Oakland 19

The Raiders had a chance to get back into playoff contention when Matt McGloin gave them a 19-16 lead with 6:10 remaining on a TD pass to Marcel Reece. Ryan Fitzpatrick then engineered an 80-yard drive capped by a 10-yard pass to Kendall Wright with 10 seconds left to start the skid.

The Raiders got off to a great start on Thanksgiving when Greg Jenkins returned a fumble for a TD on the opening kickoff. But DeMarco Murray ran for three TDs to lead the Cowboys to the win.

New York Jets 37, Oakland 27

Reece ran for 123 yards to lead the offense but Oakland's defense was overmatched by Geno Smith, who threw for 219 yards and a score and ran for 50 more and a TD to lead the Jets to the win.

Kansas City 56, Oakland 31

Alex Smith threw five TD passes that traveled a combined 13 yards downfield in the air as Oakland had no answer for Jamaal Charles in the screen game. Charles scored five TDs in all and gained more than 200 yards from scrimmage, while Smith posted a perfect passer rating of 158.3.

McGloin's struggles since his debut win grew deeper as he failed to throw a TD pass for the second time and threw another interception as the Raiders fell in a lackluster game against their AFC West rivals.

Peyton Manning threw for 266 yards and four TD passes in the first half to set the NFL's single-season passing record. Terrelle Pryor made his final start at QB for Oakland and threw two late TD passes to avoid the shutout.

Derek Carr became the first Raiders quarterback to start the opener of his rookie season, throwing two TD passes without a turnover. But Oakland was outgained 402-158, extending the losing streak to a second season.

The Raiders fell behind 27-0 after three quarters in the home opener, allowing a TD pass to defensive end J.J. Watt on a trick play they practiced against and recognized, but still failed to cover.

The Raiders hung tough against the Patriots and appeared to drive for a possible tying score in the closing minutes, but Gabe Jackson was called for a hold on Darren McFadden's TD run. On the next play, Carr's pass deflected off receiver Denarius Moore's hands to defensive lineman Vince Wilfork for a game-sealing interception.

Miami 38, Oakland 14

Even a trip overseas couldn't reverse the skid as the Raiders fell behind 38-7 after three quarters to a Miami team that almost benched quarterback Ryan Tannehill earlier in the week. Tannehill threw for 278 yards and two scores. Owner Mark Davis responded by firing coach Dennis Allen as soon as the team returned home.

San Diego 31, Oakland 28

The change to interim coach Tony Sparano provided a spark as Carr threw for four TDs and Oakland led 28-24 with the ball late in the fourth quarter. But the Raiders couldn't run out the clock and San Diego answered with a go-ahead touchdown with 1:56 to play. The game was sealed when Carr threw an interception on a deep pass into double coverage with Oakland nearing field-goal range.

Former quarterback Carson Palmer returned to Oakland and threw two TD passes and the Cardinals defense held Carr in check to earn the win.

A botched fake field goal that led to an interception by holder Matt Schaub on the opening drive set the stage for Oakland's 16th straight loss in the Eastern time zone.

The Raiders turned the ball over three times in the first half to fall behind 24-3. But Oakland rallied against the defending Super Bowl champions only to fall short once again at the end.

The Raiders outplayed Manning and the Broncos for 26 minutes before an interception and four missed tackles on a 51-yard catch-and-run by C.J. Anderson turned the tide. Manning threw TD passes on five straight possessions to turn it into another laugher.

The skid hit 16 games and one full year with an inept offensive performance against the Chargers. A botched snap on the first play led to a quick San Diego touchdown, but Oakland never managed to get into the end zone as the team failed to top 250 yards of offense for a third straight game.
