Friday Will Remain Cold And Wet As Round 3 Of Rain Arrives

Fog is thick up across the valley this morning

  • Here are the 24-hour rain totals from round 2 of wet weather yesterday:
  • Pollock Pines .64"
  • Bald Mountain .59"
  • Blue Canyon .54"
  • Placerville .48"
  • Fairfield .42"
  • Elk Grove .23"
  • Sacramento .23" (rest of metro area received .12" - .20")

Round three of rain arrives this evening. Some showers are possible on the northern end of the valley beginning after 4 p.m,, spreading area-wide around 10 p.m. Rain overnight continues into Saturday morning with some scattered showers possible through Saturday night.

Rainfall amounts will range from .10 - .60" for the valleys and 0.75 - 1.50" for the mountains.

There's not much snow in the Sierra because of warming temperatures at higher elevations. The snow level will rise from 6,500' to 7,500' tonight, with just a few inches of accumulation possible at the highest elevations.

A HIGH WIND WATCH will be in effect tonight through Saturday afternoon for the Sierra. There will be southwest winds 40-45 mph and gusting above 55 mph.
