'Black Seadevil' Captured On Film During Deep Sea Dive
MONTEREY (CBS13) -- This little guy is aptly nicknamed the "Black Seadevil."
He was captured on film by researchers with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute after during a dive into Monterey Canyon off the coast of California this month.
Researchers believe that this is the first video captured of the fish - known scientifically as Melanocetus, or a deep-sea anglerfish - alive at the depth it was seen. The video was taken at about 600 meters deep into the canyon.
If you're worried that this scary-looking fish is a possible threat, just remember that it's only about 9 centimeters long.
