Three Men Found Guilty Of Murder In 2011 Burglary That Ended In Shooting

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) — Three men accused in the death of a Sacramento County man have been found guilty of first-degree murder.

Patrick Godines, Travis Mabson and Patrick McPherson were convicted by jury of first-degree murder with special circumstances in connection with the shooting death of Michael Sanderson during a residential robbery and burglary, according to a statement Tuesday from the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office.

Sheriff's deputies responded to calls of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 5700 block of Manzanita Avenue on July 29, 2011 at about 12:15 a.m. There, deputies found Michael Sanderson, 54, inside an apartment with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Sanderson was transported to a hospital where he died.

Godines, Mabson and McPherson face life in prison without the possibility of parole. The sentencing hearing is set for January 8 at 1:30 p.m.
