Parents React To Third Grade Teacher's Alleged DUI Arrest, Crash

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) - A local teacher is in trouble after she crashed into two cars and then into two separate homes in Sacramento on her way to work Thursday morning.

"I think that's absolutely crazy because she's supposed to be responsible for our kids and she can't be responsible for herself," said Teana Rigmaiden, a concerned parent.

Rigmaiden, a mother of three, is talking about Patricia Robertson, the woman California Highway Patrol officers say caused an accident Thursday morning while allegedly drinking and driving.

"She was not thinking and not being considerate of anyone else but herself," said Rigmaiden.

Officers say Robertson was above the legal limit when she crashed into two cars and eventually into a home. All of this, while heading to work as a third grade teacher at Earl Warren Elementary School.

"Who are our teachers today?" asked Vanessa Martin, who lives near Robertson.

Vanessa Martin lives two doors down from Robertson and she's thankful the accident wasn't worse, and her daughter and other neighborhood kids didn't get hurt.
"She could be driving down the street when all the kids are playing. That would be bad too," said Martin.

Court records show this isn't the first time the 56-year-old has driven under the influence. In 2011, Robertson pleaded no contest to a DUI charge.

"My daughter will be going into the third grade soon and I would not feel comfortable knowing she is looking after my child," said Rigmaiden.

A spokesperson with the school district says they are taking this matter seriously, and if the allegations are true, she will likely be placed on administrative leave.

Meanwhile, CHP officers didn't want to release her booking photo, fearing it would upset her students.
