Murderer Wants Conviction Tossed After Prosecutor's 'Dumb And Dumber' Quote

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Utah man says a judge should toss his murder conviction because of a prosecutor's reference to the movie "Dumb and Dumber."

Conrad Truman's lawyer says in court documents quoting the line from the movie was a personal attack, but prosecutors replied in a Monday filing that Truman got a fair trial.

Truman, 32, is scheduled to be sentenced next week in the death of his wife Heidy Truman, who was killed by a point-blank gunshot to the head in 2012.

Truman denies killing her, and defense attorney Ron Yengich argued she could have accidentally shot herself.

Prosecutor Craig Johnson countered that was very unlikely, and quoted a "Dumb and Dumber" line about a one in a million chance.

Judge Samuel McVey didn't immediately rule on the defense motion.
