CHP, Office Of Traffic Safety Hope DDVIP App Will Curb DUIs, Reward Designated Drivers

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The California Highway Patrol and the California Office Of Traffic Safety are hoping a new app that rewards designated drivers will help curb holiday DUIs.

The DDVIP app shows exclusive offers and discounts for designated drivers at bars and restaurants throughout California.

The app also allows people who are out for a night of drinking to connect to a ride home.

"We really have gone out and tried to identity with a demographic who are use to using technology and social networking, so we think this will be really easy for them to use," said traffic safety spokeswoman Rhonda Craft.

The December crackdown starts on Saturday.
