Organizers Behind TBD Festival Throwing NYE Party In Midtown

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Christmas isn't here yet, but some local businessmen are already thinking about New Year's Eve. The folks who brought you TBD Fest in West Sacramento over the summer are hoping you'll make it out to their New Year's Eve block party in midtown.

Organizers plan to block off 20th streets between K and J and put up tents up along the entire block to create a sense of community and intimacy for revelers. A few DJs will provide the music and there will be drinks available for purchase.

This is the first year the area is having a new year's party. Some residents in West Sacramento weren't happy about the noise level during the three-day TBD event, but a co-founder of the midtown event hopes they won't run into that problem this time around.

"Well, the great thing about this neighborhood is there isn't a lot of neighbors that are right in the surrounding areas. So that's great, and I think that's why this happens to be a great location for this type of deal," said Michael Hargis, a TBD NYE Block Party co-founder. "We are making sure we have a hard 12:13 cutoff, so the music stops at 12:15 and then, obviously, the party can roll into the interior."

If you're interested in attending the event, tickets are available here.

Regarding whether or not there will be a ball drop, Hargis says folks should expect something exciting g at midnight, but wouldn't tell us what that'll be.
