Bulk Of Rain To Arrive In Valley Monday Afternoon
(CBS/AP) - Forecasters said Sunday they expect more rain for California, but the two water-bearing fronts approaching the region aren't packing the wallop delivered by a major storm last week.
Winds are clam now, but they'll start to pick up Monday into Tuesday. They won't be damaging, but breezy with generally unsettled weather.
National Weather Service forecaster Bob Benjamin said he expects a storm to drop between an inch and two inches of rain Sunday night through Monday morning in the San Francisco Bay and Sacramento regions.
Our best chance for rain on Monday is in the afternoon, with rain hitting the coastal area hardest during the morning commute.
In Sacramento, Monday's system will bring widespread rain and gusty winds in the evening hours.
Tuesday's system will bring rain in the evening around 6 p.m.
On Wednesday, we won't see widespread rain, but there will be a chance in the forecast.
Thursday will be our break day. No rain is expected.
We could see some rain around noon Friday, but it's too far away to be certain. We'll know more as the week progresses.
More storms are needed to pull the state of its severe drought. The latest storm helped to push the Sierra Nevada snow pack to nearly 6 feet. It was less than 2-feet deep this time last year, said Eric Kurth, a meteorologist in the weather service's Sacramento office.
