Part of a newly passed ordinance that recently went into effect requires drivers to know a certain level of English. The city says the requirement came from passenger complaints.

49. Multi-Vehicle Crash On Sacramento Freeway Caught On Video

At around 8 a.m. Monday, a CBS13 news crew was getting ready to report from the scene of a crash on westbound Interstate 80 near Greenback Lane, when several vehicles on eastbound Interstate 80 suddenly crashed.

CHP says rubberneckers caused the first crash, which sent a truck into the median. As cars subsequently slowed amid the chaos, approaching vehicles didn't stop in time and struck vehicles in front of them. The entire crash was caught on video. At least five vehicles were involved.

John Masson was badly beaten on Oct. 28 when thieves broke into his North Highlands home in the middle of the night. They blindfolded and tied up Girion and a caretaker and demanded Masson's car keys.

She was a wife and a mother.

It was at the Bank of the West on Hammer Lane in Stockton that the daughter of Misty Holt-Singh waited to hear what happened to her mother. Misty was taken hostage by three men who had just robbed the bank.

41. Suspected Teen Burglars Shot Dead Inside Home By Residents

Police say that two teens were shot dead after being confronted by an occupant of the home they allegedly tried to burglarize.

"It's happened before, so she's pretty shaken up about the incident that's been going on," said a neighbor who didn't want to be identified.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers were called to the 1000 block of Arcade Boulevard around midnight for a robbery in progress. Once at the scene, however, officers found that two young men had been shot dead.
