Antelope School Fire Destroys Classroom; Rebuild Expected To Take Six Weeks

ANTELOPE (CBS13) — A fire at Antelope View Charter School that burned a classroom is believed to be the work of an arsonist, investigators said on Monday.

The campus behind Center High School houses Antelope View and Global Youth Charter School.

Sac Metro firefighters responded to a fire alarm at the campus, where the flames engulfed a classroom. An arson investigator found someone had entered the building.

Investigators say suspected arsonist or arsonists broke through a window and started two fired before taking off.

The damage to the classroom and equipment is about $70,000.

Superintendent Scott Loehr says there is space for the students to learn elsewhere while the classroom is being completely rebuilt. That process could take at least six weeks.

Investigators will be reviewing security footage for leads. Meanwhile, fire investigators are hoping someone comes forward with information.
