Suspected Abduction, Torture Has Carmichael Dog Owners Fearful

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) — A neighborhood is in distress after a dog was found dead inside a trash can in Carmichael, and there are signs someone could be taking the animals and torturing them.

Neighbors say two other dogs were taken, one of which was found alive with a cord wrapped around its neck.

The incidents happened just blocks apart near Kenneth and Garfield avenues.

A Carmichael woman taking out the trash on Christmas Eve says she found something so disturbing, she's had trouble sleeping—a dead dog dumped in the garbage with a cord tied around its neck and its mouth taped shut.

The pet owner didn't want her face shown for fear her animals could be targeted next.

"If they are able to do that to an animal, you know they're capable of doing worse," she said.

Just two blocks away, Tiny and Boo-Boo are back home after they were snatched on Dec. 26.

Tiny was found on Friday with a cord around her neck and her mouth taped shut, just like the dog in the garbage bin. Boo-Boo turned up on Saturday miles from home, shivering cold with no collar.

Surveillance video from across the street on the day his dogs were taken appears to show a woman walking away from his house with a dog that looks like Boo-Boo. It's hard to tell if the person is carrying another dog in their arms.

He's just happy his two precious pets are safe and sound.
