Days After 60th Anniversary, Elderly Couple Beaten, Shot Inside El Dorado County Home

DIAMOND SPRINGS (CBS13) — An El Dorado County couple is recovering after police say someone broken into their home and attacked them on Tuesday night.

Police say whoever broke into the couple's home in Diamond Springs didn't take anything.

The couple in their 80s and 90s were beaten, shot and held hostage for hours. They are currently in protective custody.

Before midnight on Tuesday, armed intruders forced their way into the home of Faye, 80, and Gerald Holderman, 91. Faye was beaten in her face and head and her husband was shot.

When Faye finally called 911 the following morning, she said they were held hostage all night.

Arlett Lane is a dead end, and neighbors who were home at the time say they heard nothing.

"My granddaughter lives with, us and she came home at midnight that night and says there was nothing going on then," said Cecil Cook. "If lights come down our driveway, just lights, [our dog] barks. She didn't bark that night."

The Holdermans' daughter says the people who attacked her parents were savages. She says both parents are in the hospital and in protective custody.

Sheriff's detectives say the house wasn't ransacked and haven't determined if anything was stolen. No arrests have been made.

This week, the injured couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
