Sacramento Woman Reportedly Shot During New Year's Eve Celebration

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A woman was accidentally shot at a Sacramento County apartment complex Thursday morning, say authorities.

The shooting happened around midnight at an apartment complex in the 5700 block of Callie Lane. Authorities received several reports that a woman in her 20s had been shot in the parking lot. When they arrived at the scene, deputies found a woman with a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Sgt. Lisa Bowman, a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesperson.

Detectives say the woman's boyfriend, Steven Michael Lucas, 24, accidentally shot the woman with a shot fired in celebration. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on the charge of negligent discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury.
