Cold And Alone: Boy Found Wandering Rural Lincoln

LINCOLN (CBS13) – Authorities say they have contacted the parents of a boy found wandering rural Lincoln Sunday morning. However, it is still unclear how the boy ended up in the area in the first place.

"When we saw he was shivering, we took him inside so he wouldn't be out in the cold," said Torivo Garcia, who found the boy on his property.

Garcia had just gotten home from the casino, parked his truck and walked inside when he saw the little boy on his front steps, peering in.

"It's weird how he was just here on my front steps," Garcia said.

Garcia even took a walk around his property to see if the boy – who said his name is Victory Lee – was with anyone else, but he didn't find anyone. So, Garcia called the sheriff's office.

"We didn't hear no car stop, or no cars take off. We didn't see no lights, [we] heard nothing," Garcia said.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office says the Victory is about 10 or 11 years old and that he doesn't know his parent's names or where he goes to school.

Garcia says when he asked the boy questions, the boy simply said he couldn't remember but insisted he was looking for a gift for his mom.

"I was like, 'What are you doing out here little man, how'd you get here?' And he was just looking for a present for his mom," Garcia said. "It doesn't make sense at all."

After asking for the public's help in finding Victory's family, the Placer County Sheriff's Office announced Sunday night that deputies had contacted the boy's parents.

Deputies have not commented on how the boy ended up in the area.
