Stockton Police Kill Home Break-In Suspect Who Stabbed K-9, Came At Officers With Knife

STOCKTON (CBS13) — A home break-in suspect who allegedly charged at police with a knife was shot and killed by two Stockton Police officers on Tuesday.

The officer-involved shooting happened on the 800 block of Howard Street at a group home.

Children were inside and barricaded themselves when the suspect broke in. A stun gun was used to try to bring the suspect in and a K-9 unit was deployed.

The suspect is described as a 25-year-old white male who was a known gang member. He had two prior arrests over the summer for resisting and possession of a bladed weapon.

The suspect allegedly stabbed the police dog, and when an officer tried to pull the K-9 away, the suspect tried to come at the officers with a knife.

The officers were responding to a break-in at a home and tried to arrest the suspect. That's when they say the suspect came at the officers with a knife.

Two officers opened fire, and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
