Woman Dead After Shooting Outside Of El Dorado Hills Bar

EL DORADO HILLS (CBS13) – A woman is dead and a 41-year-old man is in custody after a shooting in El Dorado Hills early Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened near White Rock and Latrobe Roads a little after midnight, according to the California Highway Patrol. Apparently, two women were leaving the 36 Handles Pub & Eatery when they were approached by a man with a gun.

The man – identified as 41-year-old Oakland resident Anderson Swift – demanded money and car keys from the women, but the women turned back and ran towards the restaurant. It was at this point that authorities believe the man shot and killed one of the women; the other woman was not injured.

After the shooting, Swift was able to get the keys to the woman's car and took off up Silva Valley Parkway. However, he eventually lost control and rolled the car into the backyard of a home just north of Darwin Way, prompting neighbors to call police.

Swift, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, was later taken into custody by CHP without incident.

There has been no word on if the victim and Swift knew each other.
