Woman, 23, Suspected Of Abducting, Torturing Dogs In Carmichael

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) – Detectives have arrested a woman believed to be responsible for abducting and torturing two dogs in one Carmichael neighborhood.

Kayla Lynn Wright was arrested Wednesday in connection to the December incidents. She is facing charges of grand theft of an animal and felony animal torture, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

Two dogs were found bound with cords around their necks within hours of each other in the area of Cardinal Court. One dog was found dead in a trash can, while the other was able to return home but with a cord tied around its neck and tape on its mouth.

Detectives say that surveillance video helped them identify the 23-year-old Wright as the suspect. She is believed to be responsible for both incidents.

Wright, who also had an outstanding warrant from Placer County, is being held at Sacramento County Jail on a total of $250,000 bail.
