3 Children Hurt When 200 Pound Stage Prop Falls In San Diego
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Authorities say a 200-pound prop fell onto the stage at a San Diego children's theater, slightly injuring three kids.
Fire and police say a prop tree collapsed Tuesday during a production at the San Diego Junior Theatre in Balboa Park.
The children, who are 9 to 11 years old, were taken to hospitals but their injuries aren't considered serious.
The accident occurred shortly after noon during the opening number of a show called "The Magic Treehouse: Dinosaurs Before Dark."
Fire officials say two children were sitting on the 8- to 10-foot tree-like platform when it fell onto a third child. Stage hands lifted it off.
The performance was canceled.
