Man Hit, Killed Trying To Cross Roseville Freeway Onramp

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – A man trying to cross through the traffic of a freeway onramp was hit and killed late Monday afternoon.

According to California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at the Riverside Avenue onramp to westbound Interstate 80 just after 5:35 p.m. CHP says a 1998 VW Beetle was on the onramp when it hit the man, who had crossed into the #2 lane and directly into the path of the car.

CHP says the man, who is not being identified at this time, died while he was being taken to Sutter Roseville Hospital.

The driver of the Beetle, 61-year-old Citrus Heights resident Mark Colemen, stayed at the scene. Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
