Lincoln Entrepreneurs Spin Garage Inventions Into New Science Channel Show

LINCOLN (CBS13) — Two Lincoln entrepreneurs who started making inventions in their garage now have a TV show on the Science Channel.

The show is called "All-American Makers" and it's about people who love to tinker with technology, and the hosts of the new show run a successful business doing just that.

Amid the hum of 3-D printers and constant rush to fill orders at their business, Brook Drumm and Brian Roe are just hours away from their TV debut.

"To work with a network like Science Channel is like a dream," Drumm said. "I mean we're geeks and nerds. We love science, we watch it anyway."

People bring inventions to pitch to the duo. Drumm and Roe then take apart the inventions. The idea is for the inventors to cough up money to bring their gadget to market.

A friend recommend the pair to the network after seeing an ad for a casting call. They sent in a resume tape and were picked. The show was filmed in New York and at their Lincoln business, Printboy, where they make and ship 3-D printers all over the world.

Roe says it's been great to test out the very creative inventions and meet the people behind them.

"What's great about the show is you see these people come in, they've got a product and they start telling you about your story, and it's the same story I've lived," he said.

The channel has signed off on six episodes so far. The first one airs on Wednesday.
