Turlock Vandals Target 19 Vehicles, Smashing Windshields, Windows

TURLOCK (CBS13) — Turlock Police are trying to solve a brazen crime spree where vandals smashed the windshields and windows of more than a dozen cars.

The suspects aren't stealing anything from the cars, but they say they have cost the owners of 19 vehicles a lot of time and money.

Jasbindar Singh is one of the neighbors who discovered their car windows busted out and shattered.

"I have no idea whats going on, who's doing this, and it's not fun," Singh said. "I was not happy. I was ready to go to work and all I saw was my car smashed."

All 19 of the crimes happened last weekend, all around the same area near Pitman High School.

"There was a rock in the car and a rock laying on the pavement over there," he said.

Singh says his car was hit twice. The crooks left a large crack in his front windshield. His back windshield was smashed, leaving glass everywhere. Singh even found a large rock the vandals used sitting in his car seat.

His new Lexus had to be towed away, because the break-in disabled the car's computer.

"I was talking to the guy who towed my car and he said yeah he towed like 10 cars," he said. "Luckily we have good insurance but still we have to pay the deductible, which is like $500."
