4 Accused Of Pretending To Be Police In Stockton, Pulling Cars Over

STOCKTON (CBS13) — Four people face charges tonight of impersonating police officers in the Stockton area.

Investigators say the suspects used a siren and a PA system to pull people over in a black 2009 Crown Victoria with a white top.

Stockton Police couldn't confirm whether the car was at one time a real patrol car, but on Thursday, four adults used it to make people think they were law enforcement.

"One of the people they tried to pull over was a security guard and that security guard knows the area, knows what type of vehicle police drive. He didn't pull over. Did the right thing and called police," said Stockton Police spokesman Joe Silva.

After the guard called police, the impostors tried to pull over a woman downtown. She also called police and gave a good description.

Stockton Police arrested the driver, Selena Salavar and her passengers, Patrick Riberal, Frederick Valadez, and Brianne Stockdale

Stockton Police say it is very rare for an undercover car to pull over a driver, and if it does, a marked patrol car will come on scene soon after with flashing lights and visible decals.
