Parent Claims Manteca School Board Member Bullied Her On Facebook

MANTECA (CBS13) — A Weston Ranch parent says she's being cyberbullied by a Manteca school board trustee.

The parent claims board member Ashley Drain sent her a hostile reply to a question she asked through a Facebook message. It involved Drain's involvement in recent high-school student suspensions, and whether race played a role in the students' punishments.

In the message, Drain, who is black, wrote, "Why do you care? Thankfully for you, your children are white."

Drain says she doesn't regret what she wrote.

"I actually mean every word that I said. My delivery, with how heavy, was a little bit hard," she said. "The criticism is definitely fair, because even I can see that my focus was on all the wrong that happened even when it comes to the suspensions at that high school."

The emails were sent to the board last December after Drain intervened for a student in her after-school program.

The board didn't take any action on the email exchange.
