King Karl's Reign Begins: Sacramento Kings Roll Out Third Head Coach This Season

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento has a new star, as the Sacramento Kings rolled out their third head coach and the new hope for their franchise.

New head coach George Karl arrived in Midtown to a royal welcome. The celebratory greeting came just hours after he was unveiled to reporters and laid out his first priority, the fans.

"I think the one challenge I have this year is to get the fans supportive that we're going to be a good team," he said.

Karl has already won over the season-ticket holding Scarborough family. They pay $150 a game for their season tickets, but Mom and Dad weren't sure they wanted to keep forking over the cash.

"It was kind of up in the air," said Sydney Scarborough. "It was like we didn't know where they were going, coaches were coming and going."

Hiring Karl convinced them to renew.

"To get another coach of a high caliber, sealed the deal for us," he said.

The family posed for a photo with Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive who says he's learned from this season's coaching carousel.

"I made a mistake when I bought the team, when I hired the coach before I hired the GM," he said. Circumstances were different. We had a few weeks before the draft."

Karl's first game as Sacramento Kings' head coach will be on Friday.
