CHP Searching For Highway 50 Pipe Bomb Suspect
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The California Highway Patrol is looking for a suspect who planted a pipe bomb along Highway 50 in Sacramento on Wednesday.
An officer driving by spotted the suspicious object at the Stockton Boulevard onramp and called out the bomb squad.
Streets were blocked off in the area while officers set off an explosive charge to disrupt the device.
"It looks like it may have been armed with some type of a shell," said CHP officer Adrian Quintero. "Obviously it's still under investigation and we're looking at the device itself and if we can identify who may have put it there."
Investigators don't know how long the device had been there.
