Mother Of Missing Child Sentenced To 11 Years In Prison

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The mother of a child that went missing four years ago will be spending the next 11 years in prison.

Tanisha Edwards, 38, was sentenced in Sacramento County Court Friday morning in the case of her missing child. She had pleaded no contest to charges of felony child endangerment and perjury.

Sacramento toddler Dwight Stallings went missing in April of 2011 after Edwards hid her child from Child Protective Services after she gave a positive drug test. She gave numerous, inconsistent stories about what happened to the baby – that Dwight was with relatives, that she had given the child to strangers, and that the baby was kidnapped.

Four years later, Baby Dwight has still not been found.

Edwards will be serving her sentence in a state prison.
