Reports: 49ers In Talks To Trade Colin Kaepernick

SANTA CLARA (CBS13) – San Francisco's star quarterback is reportedly on the trading block.

According to multiple reports first released Sunday night, two teams have talked with the Niners about Colin Kaepernick – the Eagles and the Bears.

It is unclear what the Niners would get in return for Kaepernick.

If Kaepernick were to go to the Eagles, he could possibly be reunited with running back Frank Gore, who is also reportedly in talks to sign with Philadelphia.

Kaepernick threw for 3,369 yards, with 19 touchdowns and 10 picks, this past season -- the first season the 49ers have missed the playoffs since 2011. He also ran for 639 yards, scoring one touchdown.

Kaepernick signed a six-year, $126 million contract with the 49ers back in 2014. However, the incentives-laden contract also reportedly allows for the team to be able to cut him without penalty before April 1 of each year of the deal.

Keep checking back for updates on this still-developing story.

Update

A statement from the 49ers' GM Trent Baalke denies the reports of Kaepernick being traded

"Colin is our quarterback and we are excited to have him. He is not going anywhere" Baalke said in a statement via CSNBayArea.com. "The media reports suggesting otherwise are without merit and, quite frankly, ridiculous."
