Police: Marysville Woman Fights Off Man Who Tried To Rape Her

MARYSVILLE (CBS13) – Police say a woman was able to fight off an unknown man who allegedly tried to rape her Wednesday night.

The incident happened at the Meadow Wood Apartments off of the 1200 block of East 22nd Street, according to the Marysville Police Department. Officers showed up at the apartment just after 10:30 p.m. and found a woman bleeding from her forehead.

The woman told officers that a man she didn't know had put her in a choke hold and tried to remove her pants.

She was able to fight back, but was then hit in the head with a rock. After being shoving the woman to the ground, the man took off with her phone.

Less than a half hour later, officers found the suspect in the apartment complex across the street. He was positively identified by witnesses – and the woman's cellphone was found on him.

The man has been identified as 23-year-old Yuba City resident Oscar Henry James, Jr. He has been booked at Yuba County Jail and is facing attempted rape, assault with a deadly weapon and robbery charges.
