Police Seek One Of Their Own In Connection To Fatal Shooting

POMONA, Calif. (AP) - The car belonging to a rookie Los Angeles police officer wanted as a "person of interest" in a fatal shooting has been found.

Police in Pomona, a suburb east of Los Angeles, said Sunday that the Volkswagen Jetta belonging to 27-year-old Officer Henry Solis was found a short distance from where a young man was gunned down two days earlier.

Police said Solis was off-duty during the early Friday shooting that killed 23-year-old Salome Rodriguez and failed to report to work the next day. They said they have reason to believe that he knows investigators are looking to talk to him.

Los Angeles police said Solis was assigned to a station in the San Fernando Valley and has yet to complete his probationary period.
