Mutilated Animals Found In Clarksburg

CLARKSBURG (CBS13) - There has been yet another case of decapitated animals in the Sacramento area. This time it happened in Yolo County.

On Sunday afternoon around 2 p.m. someone reported finding the remains of multiple decapitated animals in the area of South River Road and Babel Slough in Clarksburg.

A bird watcher says they were in the area looking for a variety of hummingbird when they noticed feathers sticking out of a bag. Inside the bag were several bird carcasses that looked suspicious. They then called authorities, according to a statement from Yolo County Animal Services.

Animal services removed 12 animal carcasses from the scene which included chickens, a rabbit a turtle.

Several other similarly gruesome discoveries have been made recently in Sacramento. Some of the remains found include chickens, a tortoise and goats.

"We've had way too many cases in the last several weeks, we are very concerned," said Gina Knepp with City of Sacramento Animal Control.

Authorities are working to determine whether the incidents are connected.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Yolo County Sheriff's Office, Animal Services Section at (530) 668-5287 or the Yolo County Sheriff's Tip Line at (530) 668-5248.
