Projected Employment Numbers Up For Sacramento Financial Analysts

Financial analysts are important for many Sacramento businesses from corporations to public institutions, and in a vast array of industries. In more junior roles, an analyst's tasks may include data gathering and management, creating financial models, updating and maintaining spreadsheets and monitoring market trends. Senior analysts may be more directly active in the financial markets and in long-range strategizing and communication with investors and upper management.

The profession can be lucrative; a California Employment Development Department report for the first quarter of 2014 showed a median pay rate of $39.88 hourly, $82,951 annually, for financial analysts in the Sacramento metro area. EDD occupational profiles project an increase of 16.8 percent increase in financial analyst jobs over the period 2012 – 2022.

There is a sizable need for financial analysts in health care related organizations in the Sacramento region; job listings have recently been posted by Kaiser Permanente, Mercy General Hospital, Dignity Health, UC Davis Health, Health Net and Sutter Health. Additional employers seeking financial analysts include Aerojet Rocketdyne, Taleo, Hewlett-Packard, Oracle, Bank of America, RagingWire Data Centers, Xerox, Rabobank and various governmental departments for the State of California and for Sacramento City and County.

A college degree in finance, accounting, computer programming or other related fields is typically required to get hired and to move up the ladder in this demanding career. Many of Sacramento's finance professionals have earned success through University of Phoenix programs for Bachelor of Science and Masters of Business Administration degrees in accounting and in finance.
