California Gov. Jerry Brown To Announce New Emergency Drought Legislation On Thursday
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Gov. Jerry Brown will announce new emergency drought legislation at a press conference on Thursday, his office announced Wednesday.
Brown's did not reveal what moves will be taken in addition to measures put in place.
Brown will be joined by legislative leaders two days after the California Water Resources Control Board put emergency measures in place to curb water usage. Those changes included restaurants requiring customers to request water before it's served to them, and hotels giving guests the option to not wash their linens every day.
Another measure is hitting cities like Roseville. While the city has kept within the 20 percent cuts asked by Brown last year, the state is requiring it change the way it handles watering. Residents will only be allowed to water two to three times a week on certain days, rather than managing their own watering schedule.
This will be the second year that the governor has announced emergency measures to combat California's drought, which is now entering its fourth year.
