Woman Whose Body Was Found Burned Near Ceres Orchard Remembered

CERES (CBS13) — A woman whose body was found burned near a Ceres orchard has been identified, but police aren't sure if she actually died there.

Lauren London's friends say the 25-year-old had a big personality and an even bigger heart, especially when it came to her 1-year-old daughter Kennedy.

Investigators say they don't have any leads in this case, which has left London's friends heartbroken and pleading for the person responsible to come forward.

"We brought her flowers to let her know that we love her and that we're here and we're not going to stop until we've got this figured out," said Taylor Eastham.

With a heartfelt message etched in the dirt, she chokes back tears thinking about the adventurous friend whose affinity for all things animal print was as brilliant as her smile.

"Her personality is—I don't even think there are enough words to describe it. But she was so vibrant and full of life. She loved life," she said.

On Monday, London's body was found burned in an orchard near Ceres.

"They're unsure if the location where she was found is the actual crime scene or if she died somewhere else and was brought to the orchard." said Stanislaus County Sheriff's Sgt. Anthony Bejaran.

Eastham went to Hughson High School with London. She says her generous spirit and spunk shone especially bright as a mother to a daughter who turns 2 next month.

"She made me want to be a better mom. Because our kids are just a couple months apart. She made me want to be a better mom," she said.

With so many questions still surrounding her death, Eastham says she'll try to turn her anger into action by making sure no one else has to say goodbye to their dear friend like this.

"Turn yourself in. Please! She's got a baby, she's got a family. She's somebody's daughter," she said.

A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. at Leigh Bright Fields on Charles Avenue and Fox Road. People are encouraged to bring a candle, blanked and stories to tell.
