Girl, 12, Killed In Stockton Crash; Police Suspect DUI

STOCKTON (CBS13) – Police say alcohol was a factor in a Friday night crash that took the life of a 12-year-old girl in Stockton.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of California and 9th Streets, according to the Stockton Police Department. A 2001 Ford Expedition was speeding down California Street and couldn't make the curve, sending the car crashing into a tree.

A 12-year-old who was riding in the back seat was ejected by the crash. Police say she died at the scene.

The girl's parents, a 42-year-old man (who was the driver) and a 34-year-old woman, were also in injured in the crash. The father is said to be in critical condition, while the mother has already been treated and released.

Police suspect DUI and speed were factors in the crash. The girl was also not wearing a seatbelt.
